The Thread Between Space

ARC Peaks is proud to present The Thread Between Space, a group exhibition bringing together contemporary artists whose practices engage with textiles, materiality, and sculptural form.

 Rooted in the building’s industrial history as a former carpet mill, the exhibition explores the ways in which textiles can carry memory, labour, and traces of place while expanding beyond traditional definitions of the medium.

Bringing together artists working across both 2D and 3D forms, The Thread Between Space features works ranging from woven and stitched wall pieces to installation, soft sculpture, and experimental textile practices. The exhibition considers textiles not only as material, but also as a language through which artists can explore space, architecture, touch, and human connection.

Responding directly to the unique character of ARC Peaks and the surrounding countryside, the exhibition invites viewers to consider the relationship between past and present — between the site’s industrial heritage and its current role as a space for contemporary design.  Through texture, repetition, structure, and form, the participating artists reflect on the histories embedded within the building and the invisible threads that continue to shape it.

The Thread Between Space celebrates the versatility of textile-based art while honouring the cultural and industrial histories woven into the fabric of ARC Peaks.
